Chair's Message

Welcome to the home of BCAGlobal!  Thank you to all of you who attended and supported the 2016 BCAGlobal Salute Dinner at the Crowne Plaza in Times Square, the 2016 Global Food & Wine Experience held at Espace, and congratulations to all of our award recipients. To those who are visiting our website for the first time, welcome! We hope you will join us in supporting our future professionals.

In 2016, the BCAGlobal celebrated our 23rd anniversary! Twenty-three years ago, three African American students created the Black Culinary Alliance as an alumni chapter for African-American students on the campus of the Culinary Institute of America in New Hyde Park, New York, which became a non-profit organization three years later. Alex Askew, one of the founding members, continued the evolution process to what it is today: BCAGlobal, an organization that supports culinary students of all cultures.

As a result of our long-standing relationships and new alliances, the BCAGlobal is generating educational and employment exchange opportunities globally. With the support of our amazing staff and volunteers, we will continue to expand our website, internet exposure, social media networks, and affiliations. None of this would have been possible without the support and input of our corporate sponsors, alliances, culinary schools and members over the past twenty-one years. Your involvement reflects the importance of supporting our future professionals.

Everyone and everything  BCAGlobal is involved with, partnerships and programs included are rooted in diversity and how it can help those we support. It has never been about overpowering the industry, but about leveling the playing field with qualified professionals while creating a workforce as diverse as the people they serve. Diversity is an industry-wide responsibility and just plain good for business. Thanks to the support of all our partners and students, the BCAGlobal continues to gain recognition as the organization the culinary industry turns to for qualified professionals of color. The BCAGlobal diversity formula works and it works because we all have a passion for excellence. We demand professionalism and commitment from the students we work with because they will set the bar for the future, and our partners expect only the best from us.

As we continue to move forward, creating new opportunities nationally and globally, our goals cannot be achieved without your help. If you have suggestions, we would love to hear them. The BCAGlobal Board needs your input and involvement to ensure that we are moving in the right direction. There will always be challenges, but our track record proves we can do amazing things!
